MARISOL'S BOXES
Marisol Escobar was a Venezuelan artist who lived in France. She created abstract sculptures of the human form. Why do you think Marisol made her sculptures different from real life?
Some of Marisol's art was "installation art" and she would create MANY human figures and assemble them together in a room to look like they were interacting. Some of her installations looked like parties! At times, the figures at the party looked awkward, confused or even bored. Other works of art seemed to resemble families.
Can you create a playful self-portrait on a recycled box to look like one of Marisol's figures? What do you need to show to make it "feel" like an expression of you?
